Research: Leeds customers:

I had the pleasure of visiting Leeds over the semester break and found this a great opportunity to have a look around and take pictures of the city. Leeds is known for their musical abilities and have many colleges and university courses focusing on music production. From earlier research I found that Leeds was my competitive city in regards to new music especially looking into promoting new bands. There are new PR agencies that have clients very similar to mine so it was interesting to see what venues were in the city.

The city itself:

In Leeds there are many record stores, similar to Brighton, you can still buy vinyl's, however most people buy them now for a hobby or collection rather than to buy the latest single. People going to these stores will be customers who appreciate music, through these stores Brighton and Leeds are connected:

Leeds have many bars dedicated to live music and musical socials:

There is a lot of event advertising in Leeds to watch new music:

This is a music hall and bar where many musicians can play and socialise:

More music event spaces in the city centre:

This is the First Class Arena, where many mainstream and popular musicians play:

Leeds is a very similar city to Brighton because a lot of the city is based around music. The musical college and university courses are drawing students to the city, creating a young population. This is happening in Brighton too, however there aren't any PR companies that are helping new musicians to further their career, which is where my agency will fill the gap.
