Although I am not aiming my agency at music festivals, they do play a huge part in the music industry and its interesting to look at them to find out what music is big at the moment. I have researched many festivals that will be held this summer to see what variation of music they will be hosting.
Bestival is home to a range of different acts each year, this summer the festival will be headlined by Outkast and Busta Rhymes. As you can see many artists are yet to be announced but it gives you an insight to what the festival has to offer. Although Bestival has a wide range of talent they are notoriously known for DJ artists to keep the festival going throughout the night.
Isle of White festival is known to be quite mainstream. Headliners including, Biffy Clyro, Kings of Leon and Red Hot Chilli Peppers indicates that this festival may be all about bands this summer. The 1975, Lawson, Passenger, The Vamps and The Strypes are all in this category as well. Hopefully there will be some new music to scout at this festival here as well because this festival will be catering to my clients needs.
Secret Garden Party started out as an underground festival that not many people knew of, through its popularity the festival has become successful and hosts many different DJ's especially looking into the drum and bass scene, including acts like: Dub Pistols and Little Dragon.
Download festival is strongly recommended to the rock music lovers. With headliners like, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Aerosmith these are all huge names in the rock music industry. Many of my clients may enjoy this scene, however the clients I am looking for will have a much more mellow musical personality than these headliners.
Above is Lattitude festival, situated in Scotland. Most festivals are situated all over the UK, however this one is the furthest from Brighton. Two Door Cinema Club and Bombay Bicycle Club are both similar bands to what I am looking for. Both of these acts haven't been in the music business for longer than 5 years which is inspiring because they are doing so well to be headlining a festival. I want to highlight music like this so that it stays in the music industry for longer than 5 years because it gets boring listening to the same old mainstream pop music and the in-fashion dance music.
Reading and Leeds festival haven't announced many music artists yet but they do have the Arctic Monkeys and Blink 182 headlining this summer who are both very big in the band industry. Other artists that would appeal to my audience are: The 1975, Courteeners, You me and six and Jake Bugg. This is a great festival to go to for my customers but the festival is known to be attended by 17-18 year olds just leaving college whereas my customer is a little older than this although young budding musician may be scouted here.
Finally Glastonbury 2014 has many artists announced, most of which are small bands. This is the biggest festival in England so to play at Glastonbury would be an honour to anyone. Artists like The Rolling Stones, Mumford and Sons and Vampire Weekend are all playing here. You will find, with many big festivals the headliners can play at multi festivals which overlaps the summer. Festivals can also welcome back the same music artists as they had the year before making the festival repetitive. V Festival does this every year which is why I haven't included it in this blog post.
